Prayer.

How can we pray with you?

Prayer is vital to life at Calvary church. Prayer encourages us as a church to be surrendered to God and prayer changes our desires to be more like God's desires. Prayer invites the power of the Holy Spirit and gives us an awareness of His presence. To pray is to be in relationship with God.

In John 15, Jesus says, "If you remain in me, and I in you, you will bear much fruit. Apart from me you can do nothing". John 15:5b The word remain means, "to continue to exist". Prayer is one way we remain or "continue to exist" in the very presence of God and corporate prayer is one way to remain in Christ together. Remaining in Christ is not a one time event, but a lifelong journey that we get to be a part of! Part of the mystery of remaining or abiding in Christ is that Christ doesn't call us to come into his presence with a detailed plan or a list of things that need to happen. Instead, He gently and lovingly says, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest" (Matt. 11:28). We get to come to Him; we bring all of our hopes and dreams, our plans and our failures to Him. Through prayer we get to be in the very presence of God. As we grow in relationship with Him through prayer, our hearts are filled and transformed. It is out of the overflow of our hearts that we are sent to serve a broken world.

At Calvary we desire to be a house of prayer where prayer is our ongoing predominant practice and it saturates all that we do here. Out of this communion with the Creator of the Universe comes strategies, plans and power to accomplish the mission of this church. Prayer is vital to life at Calvary.
